Here Are 6 Things To Expect After You Publish a Book

Image
Pre-Publishing A Book You are left with many decisions before you publish your book (traditionally or self-publish). You must determine the book’s length, design the cover, develop a title, and format the interior. You might also need to find an editor, hire a book coach or ghost-writer, or possibly work with a freelance designer. Another component of the procedure that may take up a significant amount of time on your calendar is to edit everything from the start to the final page. The editing stage is important to help ensure your book meets the required standards and avoid any potential issues arising from publishing an error-ridden book. If you’re self-editing, you may need to put in a little more time if you want your book to be as polished as possible. According to a study by Reedsy, the average time it takes to write a book is from six months to nearly one year. However, this number will differ from person to person and project to project. Of course, besides edi...

Image
To celebrate the birth of my Podcast, I wanted to write an article on this. Podcasts nowadays are the new thing. Vanity publishers. The reality.

It was 2019, I was working as a Business Manager for a cosmetic brand in London, UK. I have always worked my way through since I was 15 years old. At the age of 17, I ran away from my home to follow my heart and passion. Some of you would ask why you had to run away to pursue those things, and yes it can sound weird, but whilst I was living in that house, I couldn’t follow either of those things. One day whilst I was working, something unexpected happened. All of a sudden, a strong pain on the left side of my body froze me, and then a sense of numbness started from my left big toe up to my neck. I thought it was just something stress related because I was working 12 hours per day. Instead, four months later, filled with pain and fear, my doctor told me that it was a tumour and we had to operate immediately. I was terrified, I felt as if my life did not have any meaning, so from that day on I laser-focused my days on writing. If I had to leave this world to get to the beyo...

Image
It happens to the best of us. You have toiled for weeks, months, even years, and poured your blood, sweat, and tears into the effort to create a literary masterpiece. You have got it edited and revised to perfection. Then – hooray! – it was published and shared with the world! But then the reviews start coming in, and not everyone is in love with your work. During your literary career, you are bound to get one or two (or ten) bad reviews. Yes, it stings, and it can feel like a punch in the gut. Here are some suggestions to help you deal with a bad book review and even use it to your advantage. No one likes to be told their hard work is not great. It is perfectly natural to feel discouraged, angry, and defensive. While you do not want to dwell on your rage and spiral into despair, it is cathartic to give yourself some time and space to feel what you are feeling. Scream into a pillow. Punch the air (you can even picture the face of your nemesis while you jab. I will not judge). V...

Why Are Book Covers Important?

Image
Images of the book’s characters or setting are standard on fiction covers, particularly in genres like romance and fantasy. Readers of these genres often look for stories that transport them to different worlds, and a well-chosen image can give them a taste of what they can expect from the book. For example, the cover of J.K. Rowling’s  Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone  features a close-up of Harry’s face surrounded by his friends, Hagrid and Hogwarts castle. This immediately tells potential readers that the book is about magic and adventure, two vital elements of the story. Abstract designs are often used for non-fiction books, as they can convey complex ideas without being literal. For example, the cover art of Naomi Klein’s  This Changes Everything  uses a sky-blue background to immediately connect the book’s theme to the Earth’s climate. The adage “You can’t judge a book by its cover” may be accurate, but that doesn’t stop people from doing it. Studies ha...

Why Book Reviews Are Important to Authors and Readers?

Image
Book reviews play a vital role in  enhancing the book’s visibility  and making it easier for potential readers to find it. Book reviews can amplify the reach of books among various communities, including bookstores, blogging communities, websites, and more.  Book reviews can be more important than you may think. A form of literary criticism, book reviews are written opinions about a particular book. They can take many forms. Book reviews can be brief or long. They can critique and/or summarize the book. They can be written by readers or professional book reviewers. Reader reviews tend to be more personal, focusing on the individual reader’s experience while reading the book. But since readers can have such widely differing views of the same book, it is valuable for all involved when a book has a variety of reader reviews available. If you have written a book, or if you would like to, here are three reasons why book reviews are vital to writers and readers. Saves Time, Dec...
